NextAid (nextaid.org) is an L.A based nonprofit harnessing the power of music to affect change in the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children in Africa. On World AIDS Orphans Day (05/07), a grassroots campaign advocating for the 15 million children orphaned by AIDS around the world, NextAid will launch its annual online auction on biddingforgood.com – Bids Build Hope. The auction will raise awareness and funds for NextAid’s projects promoting and implementing sustainable solutions to the challenges facing African children: the Kawangware Vision Center in Kenya and the goGogetters program in South Africa.
The auction will launch on May 7th at 8:00AM EST and end on May 31st at 11:00PM EST. Auction items will be in the general spirit of NextAid’s commitment to green and eco-friendly initiatives and belief in the hope that music inspires, as well as, allow our supporters to treat themselves. NextAid is currently seeking items for the auction valued at, or in excess of $100 and asks for your generous participation.

Narrated by Danny Glover, “Tiny Tears,” an uplifting and inspiring documentary about children living with HIV/AIDS is being released on cable (video on demand) starting May 1st, 2010 for a 90 day run. “Tiny Tears” had it’s world premier at The United Nations and has had screenings in Cannes as well as many other film festivals. This picture is director Robert Corna’s third documentary. The release coincides with World AIDS Orphans Day May 7th.

The event brings together runners on two continents for the challenge and fun of an outstanding 5K race and the opportunity to help loosen the grip of poverty on a needy African community. All proceeds help fund a much-needed health clinic and other development programs in Kibali, Rwanda.
